Yes, absolutely! Ellington Racquet Club remains the same locally-owned, women-owned small business dedicated to our Northern Connecticut community. Our owner will still be at the front desk welcoming you alongside Bob and Emily. This partnership simply allows world-class coaching experts to handle our on-court programming and instruction while we focus on delivering exceptional member value.

What new programs can members expect this fall?

Starting this fall, you will see an expanded schedule with tennis and pickleball programs offered across daytime, nighttime, and weekend hours. We are also introducing great new specialized clinics, such as a Youth High-Performance Program for competitive junior players, as well as more year-round social events and mixers.

How do I join a fall USTA league at ERC, and what if I don't know my rating?

Registration is currently open for Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed USTA teams! Seasons run from September through the spring, and teams typically play 6–8 weekend matches against other local clubs. To join a team or volunteer as a captain, simply contact us at the front desk. If you are unsure of your National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) ranking (2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, etc.), our staff is happy to help evaluate your level!

How does racquet stringing work during the summer?

ERC tennis pro Scott Barker offers fast, reliable racquet stringing all year long. You can drop your racquet off at the Front Desk during our normal operating hours, and Scott will typically have it strung and ready for pick-up within 48 to 72 hours. Current pricing is available at the Front Desk.

This July, we have had two incredible milestones to celebrate: the 250th anniversary of our country’s Independence Day and the formation of an exciting new partnership between Ellington Racquet Club and The Supreme Court of Canada (TSC)!

While the name might sound like a legal body, The Supreme Court of Canada is actually an elite tennis and racquet sports organization. They currently operate five premier tennis clubs across Canada and are led by the very same individuals who direct the coaching program for Tennis Canada (Canada’s equivalent of the USTA). As they expand into the United States, we are thrilled that they have chosen our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in Ellington as their partner.

Starting this fall, TSC will take the lead on all programming and instruction for both tennis and pickleball at Ellington Racquet Club. Their philosophy centers on making the club a fun, highly engaging place to play racquet sports 12 months a year.

By bringing in top-tier coaching experts to hire and train our instructors, we are significantly increasing the value of your membership. Here is a sneak peek at what you can expect as we roll out our new schedule in the coming weeks:

As part of this exciting transition, we are proud to introduce Steve Mahar as ERC’s new Racquets Director!

Steve is bringing world-class experience directly to Lower Butcher Road. He will be heading to Czechia shortly to coach junior athletes in a world junior tennis tournament. Once he returns, Steve will be on-court and involved day-to-day in overseeing all ERC programming. We will be launching a dedicated email address for Steve soon so members can reach out directly with any programming questions or advice.

While league seasons stretch over several months, the commitment is super manageable: your team will only play 6 to 8 weekend matches against neighboring clubs. New this year: ERC coaches will be available to run dedicated team practices to help you and your teammates sharpen your strategy and dominate the court!

Summer Operating Hours: On weekdays, the facility is open from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, closes briefly in the afternoon, and reopens from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. On weekends (Saturday and Sunday), we are open from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with early morning court times from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM available by reservation only.
