A Note to Our Community: Ellington Racquet Club’s Future & Our Commitment to You

If you’ve been on Facebook, talking with friends at the club, or scrolling local news, you may have seen that Ellington Racquet Club has been listed for sale.

We know that kind of headline can raise questions:

“Is the club closing?”
“Will my membership change?”
“What does this mean for tennis and pickleball in Ellington?”

We want to address those questions directly and reassure you about what this really means — and what it doesn’t mean.

Day-to-Day: Nothing Changes for Members Right Now

First and most importantly:

  • Your membership is not changing.
  • Your court time is not changing.
  • Our current programs, leagues, lessons, and events are continuing as planned.

From a member and guest perspective, Ellington Racquet Club is operating exactly as it always has. You can still book courts, join clinics, bring your kids for lessons, and enjoy the club the same way you always do.

The decision to list the club is about planning thoughtfully for the future — not about pulling back from the present.

A Message From Tracy

From Tracy French, Owner of Ellington Racquet Club:

“You may have heard that I have listed Ellington Racquet Club for sale. While this is true, this should not affect you for the rest of this season. I am listing the club now to potentially have a new owner on board for the fall of 2026.

My priority has always been — and will continue to be — our members, our staff, and the Ellington community. Until any potential transition happens, our focus remains on offering a welcoming place to play tennis and pickleball, improve your game, and connect with others.”

This is not a sudden exit or a rushed decision. It’s a thoughtful step to make sure that, when the time is right, ERC is in a position to continue thriving for years to come.

Why List the Club Now?

Listing the club now is about planning ahead, not stepping away immediately.

By starting this process early:

  • There is time to find the right buyer who values our members and community.
  • Operations can continue smoothly while any future transition is organized.
  • Members and staff can feel confident that this isn’t a surprise change, but a well-planned handoff when it happens.

In other words: we’re not closing the doors — we’re making sure they stay open and welcoming long into the future.

Our Focus: Tennis, Pickleball & Community

While the listing may be the headline, our day-to-day headline is still the same: helping people in Ellington and surrounding towns enjoy tennis, pickleball, and a friendly, community-focused club.

That means:

  • Ongoing tennis programs for adults and juniors
  • Pickleball play, leagues, and growing offerings for all levels
  • Court time for members who just want to hit, rally, or play matches with friends
  • A welcoming environment for new players who are just getting started

If you’ve been thinking about finally picking up a racquet or a paddle, this is still a great time to join. The courts are busy, but we’re always excited to welcome new faces.

What This Means If You’re a Current or Prospective Member

For current members:

  • Your membership terms remain the same.
  • Your access to courts, programs, and events stays the same.
  • You’ll be kept in the loop if there are any meaningful updates in the future.

For prospective members:

  • You can join ERC with the same confidence as always.
  • We are actively operating, growing, and investing in the club experience.
  • Any future ownership transition will be approached with members’ best interests in mind.
  • Staying Transparent With Our Community

We know how important ERC is to so many of you — not just as a place to play, but as a second home, a routine, a social circle, and a big part of your week.

That’s why we chose to address this openly.

If you have questions, concerns, or just want to better understand what this means, we encourage you to reach out to us directly. We’d much rather you hear information from the club than from rumors or half-truths online.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, our priorities remain clear:

  • Keep providing a great member experience today.
  • Plan wisely for the long-term future of the club.
  • Protect and grow the tennis and pickleball community we’ve built together.

Thank you for being part of Ellington Racquet Club — whether you’ve been here for years or are just now discovering us. We’re grateful for your support, your trust, and the energy you bring through our doors every day.

If you’d like to learn more about our current memberships, programs, or court availability, you can explore our website or contact us directly — we’re happy to help you find the right fit.
